-
The HWg-STE IP thermometer connects to an Ethernet 10/100 Mbps network.
-
Control and configuration (IP, sensor name, unit of temperature, e-mail recipient) is performed over a web GUI.
-
A second probe (temperature or humidity) can be connected.
-
RJ11 temperature and humidity sensors for the Poseidon family are supported. Available sensors include indoor, outdoor, waterproof, 19" rack mountable and wall mountable versions.
-
E-mail is sent when a safe temperature is exceeded, as well as when the temperature returns to the safe range.
-
Using SNMP at port 161, the IP thermometer can be connected to a monitoring system. For example: HP OpenView, Nagios, Zabbix, The Dude, Intellipool NM and more.
-
MIB table is available for download from the product GUI.
Note: Place the temperature probe of IP thermometer to the point where the temperature rises the fastest (heatsink, outlet of a server fan). This will give you the most time to react to cooling problems.
SMS and SNMP monitoring of temperature / humidity
Temperature and humidity is monitored with a web thermometer that is also capable of sending alerts as text messages (SMS). High temperature alerts are sent by E-mail / SNMP trap as well as by SMS (via a GSM modem).
-
Simple SMS thermometer – needs only electricity and GSM coverage to send SMS alerts. Does not depend on LAN functionality or any other software.
-
E-mail and SMS alerts can be sent to multiple recipients.
|
Applications |
-
Sending alerts about equipment overheating (server, disk array) directly to your mobile phone
-
A/C functionality monitoring
-
Informing about excessive air humidity
|
|
|
Advantages |
-
Get instantly notified about a problem
-
SMS alerts do not depend on any other system
-
Connects to any SNMP monitoring software
-
E-mail alerts you in time to rising temperature

Technical description
-
GSM modem is connected to the serial interface. The supplied G10 modem or a Siemens TC35i module is used.
-
Poseidon 3265 is connected to an Ethernet 10/100 Mbit network Configuration and control is performed over the Poseidon GUI (WEB server).
-
Sensors are daisy-chained in series using a telephone cable (RJ11).
-
Each sensor has its own ID, textual name, and MIN and MAX alarm threshold settings. Text messages contain the name and value of the sensor where the alarm originates.
-
For each sensor, alarm delay of X seconds can be configured.
-
E-mail and SMS alerts are sent independently for each sensor.
Cabinet door monitoring over IP (E-mail and SNMP)
Example of a remote door, temperature and humidity monitoring solution. Whenever a door opens, a notification is sent by e-mail or SNMP. Supplied door contacts fit any door, or even the side boards of a 19" rack.
-
Receive the email when the door cabinet (19" rack) are opened.
-
It is possible to set a delay between opening the door and sending the alarm.
-
E-mail or SNMP trap alerts to excessive temperature / humidity
|
Situations |
-
Rack door accidentally left open
-
Equipment overheating
-
Unauthorized access to a rack
-
A/C failures
-
Temperature in the room gradually rising
|
|
|
Solution benefits |
-
Immediate alert to rack access
-
Server room access history archived in your e-mail
-
Check the temperature, humidity and door status remotely over the web.
-
Receive timely warnings to rising temperature by e-mail
-
Simple control with the built-in Web server

Technical description
-
Poseidon 3266 is connected to an Ethernet 10/100 Mbit network
-
Configuration and control over the Poseidon GUI (WEB server)
-
Sensors are daisy-chained using a telephone cable (RJ11)
-
Each sensor has its own ID, textual name and alarm threshold settings
-
Two out of four inputs for contacts are fitted with magnetic door sensors
-
For each sensor, the alert can be sent if the alarm that lasts longer than X seconds (alarm delay)
-
Alarm alerts can be redirected to SMS with one or more recipients (supplied SW PD Trigger)
19” cabinet monitoring over IP (E-mail, SNMP)
Example of remote door control, temperature monitoring and smoke detection in a cabinet. When a door is open or closed, or the safe range of environmental conditions is exceeded, an alert is sent by E-mail or SNMP trap. It is also possible to connect a horn as a local alarm, or a fan as local cooling. The solution is designed for 19” racks.
-
Whenever a cabinet (19” rack) door is opened, you receive an e-mail
-
SNMP trap alerts you to high temperature, or to electricity supply outage
-
Remote control of server restart or server cooling
|
Dangerous situations |
-
Unidentified access to your cabinet
-
Cabinet door accidentally left open
-
Equipment overheating / smoke
-
Electricity outage – remote restart
|
|
|
Advantages |
-
Cabinet access monitoring (log)
-
Early warning by e-mail to high temperature
-
